Military and Diplomatic Highlights: 

·       The Ukrainian military reported the following Russian losses:

o   One million Soldiers (Killed or Wounded)

o   10,990 Tanks

o   22,953 Armored vehicles

o   29,921 Artillery pieces

o   43,609 Drones

o   420 Aircraft

o   340 Helicopters

o   3,439 Cruise missiles

o   28 Warships/boats

·       International Support:

o   The Latvian government on July 2nd approved the transfer of 42 armored personnel carriers and their spare parts, as well as other weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.

o   The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) on July 2nd has paused some assistance to Ukraine as the DoD reviews its own capabilities. This review is being conducted to ensure U.S. military aid aligns with U.S. defense priorities.

o   On July 3rd, Ukraine signed a memorandum with Swift Beat on scaling up the production of unmanned systems for Ukraine. This memorandum provides for:

ü  Long-term partnership and priority supply of drones for Ukraine.

ü  Large-scale production of interceptor drones, quadcopters, and strike systems.

ü  Development of new solutions to counter cruise and ballistic missiles.

o   Sweden on July 3rd allocated SEK 1.5 billion towards over 10 new Archer artillery barrels, long range strike and underwater capabilities, as well as more logistical support.

·       The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported the following:

o   A drone attack at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) reported on July 1st damaged several vehicles near the site’s cooling pond.

o   On July 4th, the Zaporizhzhya NPP briefly lost all off-site power.

 

War and Atrocity Crimes Investigations Highlights: 

·       On June 22nd, a drone strike destroyed the World Central Kitchen’s (WCK) Zaporizhzhia warehouse. WCK was able to resume operations in the region by June 25th

·       Since February 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported 2,445 attacks on healthcare. The most recent attack occurred on July 3rd when four health worker and four patients were injured and hospital buildings and equipment sustained severe damage.

·       The Russian Federation has continued to launch aerial attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure:

o   An attack that occurred between June 8-9 involved 500 drones and missiles and targeted the western and central areas of the country.

o   On July 4th, 550 drones and missiles were launched primarily against the capital:

ü  Ukrainian defenders shot down 270 aerial targets and 208 drones were jammed through electronic warfare.

ü  This attack also damaged a Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) vehicle. No staff or volunteers were injured.

·       The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense reported that there have been at least 376 recorded cases of conflict-related sexual violence committed in Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine.  The total number of cases is likely higher.

 

Humanitarian Impact and Response and Recovery Highlights:

·       The URCS reported the following activities:

o   50 staff and volunteers were deployed following the attack on Smila on June 30th. These personnel provided first aid, psychosocial support, emergency relief supplies, and assistance with temporary repairs.

o   URCS and its partners met an evacuation train in Zakarpattia and assisted 20 evacuees (including 13 children) from the Dnipro and Donetsk regions.

o   On July 3rd, in concert with State Emergency Services they evacuated 50 residents from a residential building in Odessa following a Russian attack.

o   Emergency teams provided first aid, evacuated residents, and delivered vital aid to residents in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts following the Russian air strikes on July 4th.

·       On June 23rd, WHO delivered vital lab equipment to the Odesa infectious diseases hospital. This equipment boosts diagnostics and helps tackle antimicrobial resistance.

·       On July 1st, a humanitarian convoy delivered supplies (including hygiene items, medicines and solar lamps) to the Novooleksandrivka Community in the Kherson Region.

·       A humanitarian convoy on July 4th delivered five tons of supplies (including hygiene items and dignity kits) for nearly 1,000 mostly elderly people in the Mykolaiv region.

·       The Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) reported the following accomplishments:

o   In June, the ETC activated a new VHF radio site in Kryvyi Rig, significantly improving secure communications across Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro regions.

o   The ETC and World Food Programme delivered equipment (including laptops, printers, and Wi-Fi devices) to seven schools in Mykolaiv and Kharkiv, enhancing digital access to education for students.

 

Russian Dis-information Campaign Highlights:

·       Between June 22-29, Russia has pushed the following disinformation:

o   Russia has global support for its actions.

o   Romania is a puppet state that is projecting its own imperialism.

·       On July 1st, it was reported that Russia’s new school textbooks are trying to rewrite the invasion of Ukraine as a peacekeeping mission.

 

Cultural Heritage Protection Highlights:

·       As of June 25th, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has verified damage to 501 cultural heritage sites, which includes:

o   151 Religious sites

o   262 Buildings of historical and/or artistic interest

o   34 Museums

o   33 Monuments

o   18 Libraries

o   One archive

o   Two archaeological sites
